RSA Announces Momentum and Customer Success Within RSA enVision Business
Posted: Mon Dec 28, 2009 02:04:00 PM

RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC), today highlighted several major accomplishments with customers of its RSA enVision® Security Information and Event Management platform, including more than 65% customer growth since the beginning of 2008 through the third fiscal quarter of 2009.

Organizations struggle with the burden of compliance reporting, the lack of real-time analysis for security operations and with gaining visibility across both physical and virtual infrastructures. Customers have been selecting the enVision solution because of its proven ability to address these challenges. The solution is designed to collect and process security and compliance relevant data from both the physical and virtual infrastructure in a highly scalable manner. It is engineered to automate much of the process of compliance reporting and to provide real-time analysis for security operations -- monitoring not just the infrastructure, but also the information that is moving and being stored throughout the infrastructure.

Scalability of the RSA enVision Platform
Customers find that the enVision platform is a scalable solution designed to grow and evolve with their organization's dynamic needs.

Akershus University Hospital, one of four hospitals affiliated with the University of Oslo in southeast Norway, needed to identify and implement a scalable security platform for monitoring and capturing all access to patient records.

"Patient safety is our primary concern, said Tor Ottersen, Senior Advisor at the Directorate of Health, "We take security and the privacy of patient files very seriously so we needed a tool to help ensure that our medical staff would not abuse their access privileges. The RSA enVision platform was chosen by Akershus University Hospital as the preferred tool to accelerate identification of suspicious activity whether it is intentional or accidental."

Australia-based Infoplex, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leighton Holdings Limited, is a technology services provider. As a service provider, Infoplex required a dependable technology that would produce meaningful reports for customers by bringing together log information from different vendor products as well as demonstrate to them how fast they could forecast problems well before they happen.

"Working together with EMC's security division, we have accelerated the quality of security services we are able to offer our customers, said Tyson Garrett, Security Manager of Infoplex. "The RSA enVision platform is a reliable and scalable technology platform that helps enable us to offer higher network performance guarantees for existing services, as well as making it much easier to add new offerings and grow our customer base."

RSA enVision Platform Driving Efficiency for Customers
EMC's RSA enVision platform is built from the ground up to make life easier for customers of all sizes. The RSA enVision solution makes the right log and event data available at the right time to help customers make decisions, whether it be real-time alerts around suspicious activity, regularly scheduled reports or ad-hoc queries as part of an investigation. The ability to increase productivity and drive efficiency sets the enVision platform apart from competing solutions. This capability allows organizations to make use of security and IT skills where they are most needed, rather than wasting effort on tedious manual tasks and analyzing thousands of individual security log events.

Tyson Garrett added, "The RSA enVision solution offers a streamlined management interface that the SOC team can operate with ease, minimizing the time spent classifying log data and reducing the risk of human error." Staff productivity has significantly improved, especially during the night shift."

RSA customer Doug Tamasanis, Chief IT Architect of software firm Kronos, said, "We found that the RSA enVision platform easily paid for itself in six months. We have expedited our tracking and troubleshooting of IT issues."

Similar success has been experienced among numerous RSA customers.

"The security reporting used to be done quarterly, as it demanded a lot of manual work," said Jose Ramos, Network Engineer at national airline, Luxair, based in Sandweiler, Luxembourg. "Now with the RSA enVision platform, data is available in real-time."

New Integration Across VMware and EMC Product Portfolios
Continuous monitoring of the physical and virtual IT infrastructure is essential to effectively respond to threats and vulnerabilities. This includes gathering data from across the physical and virtual IT environment to make sure systems are being managed according to policy. To that end, the RSA enVision solution is engineered to integrate with VMware technologies including VMware ESX™, VMware vCenter™ and VMware View Manager™, which allows the enVision platform to get better visibility into administrative activity at the virtualization layer. In addition, integration with the RSA® Data Loss Prevention suite (DLP) offers enhanced "content aware" capabilities, helping customers better understand where sensitive data resides and how it is used. This enables IT security analysts to configure policies within the enVision platform to detect when and how certain data is potentially exposed to risk.

The RSA enVision solution is now also integrated with multiple EMC security and information infrastructure products, including the RSA DLP suite and RSA® Adaptive Authentication, as well as EMC Celerra®, EMC CLARiiON®, EMC Symmetrix®, EMC Connectrix® and EMC Ionix® Network Configuration Manager®.
