RSA SecurID® Appliance selected due to excellent reputation of EMC's security division, innovative technology and ability to protect against external and insider threats

BEDFORD, MA — RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC), today announced that Richtek Technology, a leading integrated circuit design company based in Taiwan, has selected the RSA SecurID® Appliance to provide two-factor authentication for secure access to its valuable networked assets increasing customer confidence and positioning the company more competitively in the marketplace.

Richtek designs and tests integrated circuits (IC) and software and required a stronger form of security to protect both its valuable intellectual property generated through R&D; and its customers' information. Employees at the company who have access to sensitive corporate information required a much more secure method of authentication than the sole use of usernames and static passwords.

"The lifeblood of our company is the information created through the hard work of our designers and access to this unique data must remain protected during its entire lifecycle. After reviewing several two-factor authentication products, we selected the RSA SecurID Appliance because of its innovative technology - as well as the company's excellent reputation and overall stability - all of which were very important criteria in our decision-making process," said Yungpei Philip Tsai, Director of Knowledge and Information System Management Division at Richtek. "As part of our comprehensive security strategy, our alignment with RSA enhances our reputation through the gain of additional trust from our partners and customers. This resulting increase in confidence from those with whom we conduct business helps our company become even more effective against our competitors."

"The loss of financial assets or personally identifiable information due to a data breach, online attack or the act of a malicious insider is extremely serious, but it is also the loss of an organization's intellectual property that can create some of the most devastating effects. For companies involved in research and design, such as those within the manufacturing and technology industries, their intellectual property can be the precise target of an attack. Protecting these secrets from all points of entry is critical because those who conduct these attacks can either be outsiders or those working on the inside," said Judith Chiu, Country Manager of RSA in Taiwan. "An information infrastructure protected by RSA SecurID technology can provide a company with the necessary confidence that its most precious assets are protected from multiple threat vectors and allow its teams to focus on other areas of the business."
